A project by Tove Storch, Fieldwork: Marfa, 2012

During my residency in Marfa I was interested in investigating the transformation of content. How would I absorb and use the town, the landscape - its history and present - and how would these thoughts and experiences be lodged into a work?

I became focused on repetitions and slight changes within limited areas as a way to retain and convey. The work I made came be to be a kind of colour analysis of the place, taking the shape of a book. Fields of colour emulated text as the ink was pressed onto paper in rectangular patterns - leaving white edges all around – but the words were smudged to unreadable.
I have continued my interest in the book as a sculpture and  as an exhibited object and developed the project in various directions; a reading performance at Louisiana, museum of Modern Art, DK, Internationalistik Ideale, DK and KunstNu, S.M.A.K. Belgium.
