A project by Marta Riniker-Radich, Fieldwork: Marfa 2014

My work, which has largely taken the shape of drawings, twists and blends fragments of a shared collective memory to create new visual fictions that are at once familiar and alien to us.
I have recently started a project, involving text, drawing and photographic works, that revolves around the aesthetic qualities of “success” and
hyper-individualism in contemporary society. What types of attitudes does one need to adopt in order to become financially successful? How do these attitudes then influence how one puts accumulated wealth and power to use? On this note, I explore fantastical scenarios in which private individuals exploit their power for the most absurd ventures.
